The Plett Ratepayers' 2025/26 budget oversight report is linked below.

A  strategic approach to managing informal settlements and unchecked population influx is a priority.  The growing demand for free and subsidised housing and services (further exacerbated by a culture of non-payment for services) must be addressed in a measured and sustainable way.  This must align with Bitou council’s capacity and the local economy’s ability to absorb and sustain a greater indigent population now and into the future.

To address the pressures of decreasing grants, growing debt, and an ageing infrastructure, Bitou needs a skilled and competent senior management team and a fully staffed organization which remains an ongoing challenge.

Disciplined cost management and operational efficiencies must become priorities.
