Bitou Municipality Water Restrictions

Dear Members,

Please note that Bitou Municipality has implemented Stage 2 drought restrictions as of Monday, 1 September 2025.

Please find attached the notice from Bitou Municipality, as well as a flow chart explaining that the Keurbooms River flow has been below the critical 300L per second for over a week and pumping is required to cease in order to preserve the ecological integrity of the Keurbooms Estuary.

We appeal to residents to:

·         Use water sparingly,

·         Keep water use to essentials only.

·         Obey the Municipal regulations.

We have requested Bitou Municipality for an explanation of what their backup plan is since we have known this was coming for a long time.  Also how they will deal with adjusting the billing since our basic charge currently provides 25KL, regardless whether it is used or not, and now we will be restricted to 15KL.
